Philadelphia Cricket Club
Belmont Cricket Club, 25-27 Sept 1899, Philadelphia Colts vs Ranjitsinhji's XI
Notes found with the glass negative of this photo suggest that Bosenquet is the non-stricker and Ranji at bat. However, it is more likely that Ranji is at point, in which case Charles Robson is wicketkeeper and Sammy Woods is likely the bowler. This match was played Monday through Wednesday. The match at Merion had over 19,000 paid attendance.

Used from 1843. The Junior Cricket Club was formed in 1842 by students as the first organized sport at the University of Pennsylvania. Until 1872, the campus was at 9th and Chestnut and they had no sports fields. UofP moved to West Philadelphia in 1872 onto what had been the Almshouse farm.
